Gobs (This Is A Grandmother Recipe) Recipe
Category: Desserts
Rating: N/A
Servings: 1

Ingredients

2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
4 cup flour
1/2 cup boiling water
2 teaspoon soda

Cooking Directions:

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and vanilla and beat. Mix dry ingrediants and add to sugar/shortening alternating with the water and buttermilk. Drop on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 5-7 min. at 400-425 degrees. Cool.

Filling: 4 T flour 1 C milk

Cook on med. heat until thick, stirring constantly. Let cool.

1 C Crisco 1 3/4 C powered sugar 1/4 t salt 1 t vanilla

Cream and add 1T at a time to the cooled flour/milk mixture. Whip until fluffy. Use this mixture as filling between 2 of the chocolate cookies.

I know this all sounds disgusting, but it really is wonderful. Kids love them, especially this 30 year old kid. My grandmother still makes them for me, individually wraps them and freezes them for my next visit.
