Rating: N/A
Servings: 24

Ingredients

1 cup butter; (no substitutes)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cup aii-purpose flour
1 miniature semisweet chocolate piece; s
1 rolled fruit leather; cut into 3-inch-long thin
1 decorating icing

Cooking Directions:

1. BEAT butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, vanilla, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; beat till combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour with a wooden spoon. For each snowman, shape dough into three balls: one 1-inch ball, one 3/4-inch ball, and one 1/2-inch ball.

2. PLACE balls on an ungreased baking sheet in decreasing sizes with edges touching. Press together slightly. Insert two chocolate pieces in smallest ball for eyes, one in middle ball and two in largest ball for buttons. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 18 to 20 minutes or till done. Carefully remove and cool on wire racks.

3. FOR HAT, flatten a gumdrop to a thin oval shape (about I-1/2x1 inches). Roll oval into a cone shape. Pinch ends together. Roll up bottom edge of cone to form hat brim. Attach to head with Decorator icing. Wrap a fruit leather strip around each snowman's neck. Pipe brooms and faces with Decorator Icing.

DECORATING ICING: Stir together I cup sifted powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk. Stir in a little additional milk till it reaches piping consistency. Tint with paste food coloring.

NOTES : Frosties love a snowy forecast, but they'll melt in your mouth whatever the weather! Recipe by: Better Homes Christmas Cookies 1997
