Ingredients

1 1/4 lb green cabbage; shredded
1 1/4 cup frozen green peas
1 oil for stir-frying (1 tbsp. or les; s)
2 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 bay leaves
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper
1 green chili; minced (jalapenos work fi
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon garam masala (spice mixture; available at most indian

Heat the oil in a wide pot. Add cumin & bay leaves. When bay leaves start to color, add cabbage. Stir for 30 seconds. Add turmeric and cayenne, stir and cover. Cook on low for 5 minutes until cabbage is barely tender. Add chili, peas, salt, and sugar. Uncover and add garam masala. Remove bay leaves before serving. 4 servings.
